Dr. Nalaka Godahewa

Dr Nalaka Godahewa is the Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau, Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management and also Sri Lanka Convention Bureau. He serves on the Boards of Urban Development Authority, Colombo Land (Pvt) Ltd, Sri Lanka Handicrafts Board, Lanka Hospitals (Pvt) Ltd and Sri Lankan Catering (Pvt) Ltd. as an independent director. Dr Godahewa is also the Chairman of Asia Commerce (Pvt) Ltd.

Academically qualified in three different disciplines of management, namely; Engineering, Marketing and Finance, Dr Godahewa holds a BSc honours degree in Electronics and telecommunication engineering from the University of Moratuwa. He holds an MBA from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura and a PhD in Marketing from the University of South Australia. Dr Godahewa is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants (UK) and a Member of the Certified Management Accountants (Australia).

His previous assignments include Managing Director of Sri Lanka Insurance, Director/ CEO positions at Unilever Ceylon, Suntel, and MAS Holdings. He functioned as a board member of the Seylan Bank during the turnaround period of 2008-2009. Dr Godahewa also holds the honorary positions as the Chairman of the local branch of the Global Marketing Network and as the President of the Sri Lanka branch of the Institute of the Certified Management Accountants of Australia.
