- Assist to identify the needs of Products and Services Development
- Assist in planning and implementing truly viable tourism products that shall become tourist attractions
- Assist to implement tourism development products and services in accordance with the prevailing regulations and guidelines as products identified by the Tourism Master Plan
- Assist to formulate, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the physical and financial aspects of the tourism projects
- Assist in examination and verification of proposals for investments and Processing of applications for new tourism products development
- Assist in planning for the development of new tourism products such as, Sports tourism, cruise tourism, eco tourism and special interest tourism
- Assist in implementing externally funded projects
- Assist in preparation of projects and other proposals for fund raising to facilitate products and services development
- Maintain information and data of products and services for facilitation
- Carry out research related to new products and services
- Assist in tracking new trends in products and services
- Liaison with New Products/Brand Development Manager of the SLTPB in developing such products and services for tourism
- Coordinate with the Area Development section in identifying and developing such products
- Assist to prepare a Marketing Plan and publicity campaign for popularizing such products among general community
- Liaise with the Assist Director MIS/Community Relation with regard to popularizing such products

- Under the guidance of the Director, to assist the day to day management coordination and supervision of research activities and ensure effective planning and management of same / prepare work plans and budgets relevant to research work / implement the work plans within an agreed time frame in a most result oriented manner / prepare periodic progress reports and statements of the research activities.

| Qualifications |

- A recognized University degree in the field of Statistics / Mathematics / Economics with minimum of three (03) years post qualified Managerial level experience in research activities including, qualitative and quantitative research analysis.
- Report writing skills
- Excellent command of the English Language
- Above average computer literacy

- Prepare Annual Research Plan and Budget for the Sri Lanka TourismIndustry
- Identification and prioritization of research areas for in-depth studies and Research administration
- Collection and compilation of basic tourism data and other relevant information on a continuous basis and analysis and interpretation of data and information and dissemination
- Carrying out periodical surveys to supplement the basic statistics to obtain information on both qualitative and quantitative on tourism, i.e. tourist profile, behavioral patterns, attitudes and opinions and dissemination of findings
- Economic impact studies on tourism and feedback findings to relevant Officials to consider them when new Planning is carried out
- Support decision making in products and service development in Tourism
- Conduct Research studies for sister organizations [SLTPB.SLCB, SLITHM] or for the Ministry as and when requested on a fee leave basis
- Liaison with Universities, Central Bank of Sri Lanka and other institutions which carryout research on related fields
- Conduct studies and research on tourism related areas with assistance from Universities) or individuals
- Maintain a list of such Institutions and individuals for easy reference
- Coordinate the work of third party researchers
- Organize and maintenance of documentations as a research library
- Work closely with international organizations, such as PATA, UNWTO and regional economic corporation with BIMST-EC, SAARC, SASEC and bilateral alliances [MOUs]
- Initiate to organize International Conferences and Seminars for on behalf of the above International organizations
- Promote bilateral, regional and international relationship in areas of tourism technical cooperation
- Organize various national and international forums to advance Sri Lanka's interests in tourism
- Establish and maintain a Satellite Accounting System for Tourism
- Facilitate the preparation of projects and other proposals for fund raising relating to research
- Represent the SLTDA at relevant forums and events of international and regional corporations as per the direction given by the management
- Attend to all administrative matters of the divisional staff performance appraisal, training, transfers, promotions, leave and payment matters and Maintain a discipline.
- Compilation of regular statistical and market intelligence reports
- Compilation of tourism statistics on tourist arrivals and departures, foreign exchange earnings, accommodation capacity and occupancy rates, tourism employment, contribution to the GDP, tourism prices etc. and publication of these statistics through monthly statistical publication as monthly bulletin and as an annual statistical report under the guidance of the Director
- Carryout periodical research surveys to supplement the basic statistics to Obtain information on both qualitative and quantitative on tourism, i.e. tourit profile, behavioral patterns, attitudes and opinions and dissemination of findings under the guidance of the Director
- Establish a tourism database, including the setting up of the Tourism Satellite Accounts for Sri Lanka under the guidance of the Director
- Initiate and maintain database to disseminate relevant data to interested Parties with approvals from the management.
- Establish and maintain a forecasting system for tourist arrivals, foreign exchange earnings, employment in the hotel and tourism sector, hotel Statistics and any other relevant indicators
- Maintain and update the Website information
- Liaison with Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Department of Census and Statistics and with the Ministry in maintaining and publishing data
