Foreign visitor opinion and expenditure survey

A survey on departing foreign tourists and transit passengers at the departure lounge of the Bandaranaike International Airport commenced in September 2008.

It was planned to interview 5,500 tourists and transit passengers by a team of interviewers who are competent in English, German, French, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Hindi and Arabic languages. The main objective of the survey was to obtain information on tourist visitor profile, travel behavior patterns, visitor opinions and expenditure patterns of all tourists and transit passengers departing from Sri Lanka. The survey will be completed by end February 2009 and the report will be published by end May 2009.
