| The Research Division of the Sri Lanka Tourist Development Authority conducted a survey on departing foreign tourists at the Bandaranaike International Airport during the period starting from July 2005 to February 2006. In Sri Lanka around 99.9 % of foreign tourists, travel through the Colombo International Airport, which was therefore considered as the most appropriate point for conducting this kind of survey. The survey was conducted throughout the day with interviewers working on a shift basis covering every outbound flight from the Airport. The 2,500 tourists who were surveyed during this period spoke through direct interviews which were conducted in English, German, French, Japanese, Chinese and Hindi languages.
