Optimizing è Future 2009 – Sri Lanka's first Online Marketing Conference hosted by eMarketingEye was a resounding success with over 100 delegates' representative of Sri Lanka's Travel and Hospitality industry in participation.
  • He conference was kicked-off by eMarketingEye's CEO Rajitha Dahanayake who introduced the fundamentals of online marketing, explaining the online travel consumer buying cycle and how to create awareness at each phase, beginning with the development of an effective website.

  • Guest speakers from Google, built upon this foundation, sharing Google's statistics confirming search terms such as ‘Sri Lanka Hotels' and ‘Sri Lanka Flights' have experienced explosive growth starting from May 2009.

  • The Guest Speaker from The Preferred Hotel Group, also stressed the importance of Internet Marketing and technology adoption for Sri Lankan Hotels, sharing the Group's experience in working with similar hotels in over 90 countries.

  • Recent Trends in Social Media Marketing using channels such as Facebook and Twitter were also discussed at length by eMarketingEye.

  • The conference was brought to a close after a Panel discussion in which the audience was given an opportunity to ask questions and clarify areas of doubt. The session was very interactive with detailed discussions taking place regarding the advantages of using the Internet as a Distribution Channel, Tracking Online Campaign performance, Sri Lanka Internet Penetration Statistics and Social Media Strategies among others.

Following the conference, eMarketingEye and the Google Team made themselves available for one-to-one meetings with Conference Attendees, offering their insight on how to effectively utilize the Internet as a low cost, distribution channel.

The event was endorsed by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), with electronic media sponsorship by ART TV.
