Mr. Malraj B.Kiriella

Mr. Malraj B.Kiriella plays an active role in SLTDA as the Director Research and International Affairs. In between, he has also served as the Director Marketing during the period of 2004-2007. Having a career span of more than 22 years, he has worked at the Sri Lankan Airlines prior to joining SLTB in 1999.

Mr. Kiriella has obtained remarkable achievements both in terms of academic and professional qualifications. Having read both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Economics from the University of Colombo, he also holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the Open University and thus is an Attorney-at-Law.

He is a fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI, UK) and also a Chartered Marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM, UK). Meantime, as an all-rounder his professional qualifications include in the areas of Management, Accountancy, Project Management, Diplomacy & International Affairs Management, Tourism, Research and IT from the leading Institutions locally and in overseas. He was awarded the Fellowship in International Affairs Management by UNITAR in 2004. He was a visiting research fellow at the George Washington University, USA, in 2002. He also holds the WTO Practicum Diploma Awarded by UNWTO.

Currently, he is a Council Member as well as the Honorary Secretary of the Institute of Management of Sri Lanka (IMSL). He is also functioning as the Chairman of the Market Interest Group (MIG) for leisure of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka region.

His department consists of two components, namely, Research and International Affairs. Research is inclusive of 3 parts focusing on statistics, market intelligence studies and research surveys while through International Affairs the division is mainly coordinating with the leading organizations such as UNWTO, PATA and other international organizations as IORAC and SAARC.

Currently Mr.Kiriella is working towards implementing a tourist satellite accounting system which would measure the impact on tourism on national economy. His sincere aim is to provide an efficient and effective service for the stakeholders and to strengthen ties of International Affairs to make it beneficial to SLTB.
